Why? When You Don't Know?

                              Why? Why do you hurt me?
                                 You don’t know me.
                           You may have known me in school.
                              You have seen me smiling.
                                 But, that wasn’t me.
                              Yet, you still say you do.
                                       Do you?
                            Do you know the REAL me?
                                  Honestly, and truly?
                        Do you know how much your words hurt me?
                           Do you know what I’ve been through?
                        Do you know what’s happening in my life?
                              Do you know how many times
                                  I’ve been scarred?
                               Do you know how many times
                               My heart has been broken?
                               Do you know how many times
                               I’ve cried myself to sleep?
                                        Do you know
                      How many times my heart’s wounds have mended
                                       And reopened?
                     Do you know whether or not your words hurt me?
                                 Do you know how many times
                                 I have considered suicide?
                                All because of YOU?
                                            No
                                        You do not.
                                         Therefore
                                    You do not know me.
                                        The real me.
                                          So why?
                                   If you do not know me
                                  Then why do you hurt me?
